The best beach within easy reach from the capital Port Blair is Corbyn's Cove, a small arc of smooth white sand backed by a swaying curtain of palms. If one craves for more isolation then head towards Chirya Tapu, situated at the tip of South Andaman. This beach over offers plenty of peace and quite, forest walks, and access to an inshore reef. Another perfect picnic spot on the islands is Mount Harriet, the highest peak of the South Andamans and has got a nice trail upto Maduban for enthusiastic trekkers too.
